  5. Conference Schedule Sign Up–Thursday, Friday, Monday
  6. Discuss homework–rough draft with parenthetical citations

Tuesday’s Agenda (3/31)–Library Meeting:

  1. Opposing Viewpoints database
  2. Academic Premier database
  3. Search, skim and print relevant articles for your research paper!

Thursday’s Agenda (3/26):

  1. Reminder–we are meeting at the Malpass Library in the 2nd floor computer classroom on Tuesday.  Adjust your travel plans accordingly!  We will be getting a demo of the different databases WIU has to offer for doing research!
  2. Primary/Secondary Sources
  3. Reliable/Unreliable Sources
  4. Working on Your Primary Source!
  5. Hand back Opinion Papers.

Tuesday’s Agenda (3/24):

  1. Experiences with research papers–what was the last research paper you wrote?  How long is the longest research paper  you have written?  How was the research experience?  What are your concerns for this research paper?
  2. Mini-Research Paper Assignment Requirements (go over assignment sheet)
  3. Research Jeopardy (winning team gets extra credit!!)

Thursday’s Agenda (3/12):

  1. Process Letters for Opinion Papers (see Lab Activities page)
  2. Turn in Opinion Papers!!!!
  3. Have a great break!!! :)

Tuesday’s Agenda (3/3):

  1. Cut & Paste Organization Activity
  2. Peer Revising
  3. Conference Sign Up (IM or Group)
  4. Class is canceled Thursday!

Thurday’s Agenda (2/26):

  1. Logical Fallacies Practice (from last class)
  2. Audience Chart
  3. Analyzing advertisements for audience–What audience is being served with your ad? How can you tell?
  4. Hand back topic declarations (from last class)
  5. Opinion Essay Assignment Requirements (check out homework page with link on it)

Tuesday’s Agenda (2/24):

  1. Topic Declaration–What is your topic for your opinion paper at this point? Why?
  2. Share.
  3. Read and examine Opinion Paper on Smoking (positives?  negatives?)
  4. Discuss poor logic/faulty reasoning/logical fallacies
  5. Logical Fallacies Activity–teaching each other
  6. Revising Cloning Opinion Essay (with a partner)

Tuesday’s Agenda (2/10):

  1. Peer Response #1–Listening Activity
  2. Peer Response #2–see Lab Activities page.
  3. Sign up for conferences next week on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.
  4. Revise your rough draft. Bring 3 copies to conference!
  5. No class on Thursday or Tuesday!!
